Tribeca Film Festival postponed
Tribeca Film Festival will no longer be taking place next month.
The 19th annual event for independent film was set for April 15 through April 26, but has been postponed because of coronavirus. No new dates have been announced.
The festival had selections from 12 filmmakers representing 33 countries. “Jimmy Carter Rock & Roll President” was set to open the festival on April 15 with a premiere screening at the Beacon Theatre and live performances from Willie Nelson and Nile Rodgers.
Disneyland closes
Disney has temporarily closed its California theme park -- starting March 14 through the end of the month -- because of the coronavirus outbreak. The move to shutter its park comes as the novel virus continues to rapidly spread across the country. Over the past week it has officially become a pandemic, with cases increasing in the U.S., Asia and across Europe.
Disneyland Resort hotels will remain open until March 16 so guests can make necessary travel accommodations.
Court Theatre cancels ‘Lady from the Sea'
The Court Theatre in Hyde Park on Thursday announced the cancellation of its upcoming production of “The Lady from the Sea,” as well as a postponement of remaining “An Iliad” performances. The theater on the campus of the University of Chicago had previous announced a curtailment of audiences sizes to no more than 100 people, to comply with coronavirus policies from the university.

As concern over the spread of coronavirus spread rapidly this week, the world’s two largest live-entertainment companies, AEG and Live Nation, and several major agencies have announced that they are suspending tours for the rest of March.
The collective statement of promoters and agencies is unprecedented in the modern touring industry and will affect hundreds of thousands of concerts all over the world. Among the acts currently on the road — and forced to halt — are Billie Eilish, who’s out on an arena tour, Tame Impala, who performed two nights at Los Angeles’ Forum earlier this week, The Strokes (scheduled for the Forum on Saturday), Post Malone, Trippie Redd and Young M.A. It’s unclear if the directive is for all concerts globally, in North America or just the U.S.
Billie Eilish had been slated to perform at Chicago’s United Center March 24. Tame Impala was scheduled for May 29.
A FORGOTTEN EPIDEMIC that RAVAGED THE WORLD from 2009-2010 has been RESURRECTED FROM THE DEAD NEWS PILE by several NEWS sources. This SWINE FLU hit "only 60,000,000 (SIXTY MILLION) people in the USA alone.
Do you remember that? Sixty million were infected. Dr. Siegel, one of the Fox doctors was on TV explaining this on or about the evening of March 11, 2020. Of these 60 MILLION some three hundred thousand required hospitalization. So 60 million people infected, 300,000 hospitalized. And IRONICALLY - people CAN HARDLY REMEMBER IT except perhaps because they were concerned that their DOG(S) might get SWINE FLU from chewing on imported-from-CHINA-dried-leatherlike-PIG-EARS sold EVERYWHERE from dollar stores to PET SUPPLY and even RURAL feed stores. But why has it been VIRTUALLY FORGOTTEN? Well, because America had a different president, a DEMOCRAT president by the name of Barack Obama, and the news every day was about how efficiently, and competently and wonderfully well Obama was handling it, NAMELY how expertly and skillfully Obama was dealing with SWINE FLU.
There was no media panic. The Republican Party did not politicize it at all and made not one single effort that anybody can discover or remember to try to make political WHAMMY of it. SWINE FLU was treated as a health issue from top to bottom. Sixty million Americans infected, 300,000 hospitalized. I don’t know what the death toll was. The numbers with the coronavirus are not even close. They are barely a fraction of a percentage compared to the swine flu.
And then we also had Ebola. And I do remember a little bit more about Ebola, and once again, the Drive-By Media was praising the skills and the composure and the brilliance of Barack Obama in dealing with it. And I remember being kind of ticked off about that because there wasn’t anything anybody can do about Ebola. Ebola is like any of these other viruses. There’s nothing we can do to contain them.
See, the reason I’m not panicked is I don’t have enough emotion left for panic ’cause I’m too mad. I’m too ticked off at this. We’re watching the U.S. economy be wrecked here. There’s some people enjoying it. And it makes me mad. There’s some people’s lives here that are being seriously damaged over this. And you know what’s gonna happen? It’s gonna end. We are going to overcome it. It’s going to fizzle out like all of these do.
